For my first segment of WaveCake TV in collaboration with Refinery29, we made Sexy Gingerbread Men for the holidays. Like with any project, I like to sketch out my ideas so it runs smoothly at go-time. The video will show you how easy it is to make these at home!

For winter I like to reprise my old favorite, a banana cake with white chocolate leaves, cream cheese icing, and garnish of silver pearls and edible spray paint. Sounds like a lot, but its a serious crowd pleaser.

Lipstick Smear Makeup Cake

I’ve been getting more requests for “prop” cakes recently, cakes that don’t need to be edible cause they’re for photos only… so I’m learning how to simulate my cakes in foam, spackle, and spray paint. Over the next few posts, see if you can spot which ones are real and which ones are faux!

Prada inspired cake is an icebox cake inside with whipped cream, chocolate wafers, and strawberry slices, coated with buttercream and a paper-thin veil of fondant and edible glitter.

SONAR CAKE

Bubble Gum Cake for artist Francesca DiMattio’s birthday. I wanted it to look like a cross between the surfaces in her painting studio and the gum you find stuck to kids desks. Inside were layers of custard cake, dulce de leche, hazelnut creme and strawberries.

Serving this season’s biggest hit at Cinco de Mayo party at Tacombi. Finally found a good torch!
